Courtney Kelly (BA Fine Arts: Drew Univeristy, MA Elementary Ed: Lesley University), was born on Cape Ann, Massachusetts into a family of artists. Her mother was a local ceramist and teacher, and her grandmother and aunt were both painters. She now lives in Manchester by the Sea, where she draws inspiration from the power of the ocean and nature. In addition to painting in her studio, Courtney raises her two girls and teaches children's art classes and adult paint classes. 

 

Artist statement:

“The power of water and nature gives me breath. It both charges me with energy, and calms an anxious mind. When I sit to paint a landscape I channel all these juxtaposing emotions onto the canvas with vibrancy and bold colors. My hope is my paintings give inspiration to others, evoking either creativity, calm, wisdom, or even healing. Especially in today’s busy world, we need reminders to appreciate the beauty and awe of nature.”
